Obituary for Rawleigh Michael "Chigger" Mitchell
Rawleigh Michael (Chigger) Mitchell, 71, passed peacefully away January 5, 2018, at his home in LaPlace, LA. Chigger was born November 11, 1946 and raised in Kingston, TN. He graduated Roane County High School in 1965 and served in the US Army, 1965-1967 serving in the 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles.
He was a member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Kingston.
Chigger was employed by Tennessee Forging Steel Mill as a laborer and worked his way to Plant Manager. He moved to LaPlace, LA for work with Bayou Steel.
Chigger enjoyed sports, especially playing baseball and later slow-pitch softball with the "Mules" along with many of his good friends. He had a love for hunting beginning from and early age with his father, Mitch, and childhood friends and throughout the years with his sons and other close family members.
He's preceded in death by his parents Rawleigh C.(Mitch) and Ernestine Lane Mitchell and wife, Becky Bell Mitchell.
Chigger is survived by three sons, Jason (Nikki) granddaughter Maci, Knoxville,TN, Lance, New Boston, TX, Joshua (Chelsea) Denham Springs, LA., Sister, Mary Lane (Bob) Moore, Kingston, TN, nieces and nephews Marty and April Moore (Spencer and Bella)
Rockwood, TN, Tiffany Moore and fiancé Barrett Owings, Chris and Heather Browne, (Audrey, Gage and Camden) and David and Kim Bell ( Rawleigh and Wayleigh), Kingston, TN.
Services will be held in LaPlace, LA, with Robert Honeycutt officiating.
